Water purification project of the Niger River in Mali

Aquaphytex leads an international cooperation project since 2006 consisting in water purification of the Niger River in Mali, in collaboration with the NGO “Movimiento por la Paz de Extremadura” (MPDL Extremadura) and the Extremadura’s Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AEXCID).

This project was presented to the international community in the “Tribuna del Agua” (Water Platform) during the International Exposition of Zaragoza in 2008.

Its main idea was to satisfy a basic need such as access to drinking water in one of the poorest areas of the world, in the region of Gao (Mali). This action is based on four main principles: Innovation, because of the technology; Cooperation, from the Gouvernement of Extremadura; Development and fight against poverty; Sustainability, because this phytodepuration tecnology is environment friendly.

Since 2009, AQUAPHYTEX has a solid local structure in Mali for the maintenance of the water purification project. The company has also created several Water Management Comités whose task is to lead and to administrate the resources generated by water.
